About the Organizers

The Centre for Consumer Law Research and Practice (CCLRP) at National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) is proud to announce its 1st National Essay Writing Competition, aimed at fostering legal scholarship in the field of consumer protection. This initiative aligns with the Centre’s mission to promote awareness, research, and policy development in consumer law.

Theme of the Competition

The theme for this year’s competition is “Safe Products, Confident Consumers”, reflecting the growing need for robust legal frameworks that ensure product safety and empower consumers in an increasingly digital marketplace.

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programs or LL.M. programs at recognized law institutions across India. Individual and co-authored submissions (maximum two authors) are welcome.

Important Dates

  • Last Date for Submission: 15th April 2026
  • Declaration of Results: 30th April 2026

Registration Details

Participants must register by paying a nominal fee:

  • Individual Entry: ₹250
  • Co-authored Entry: ₹500

Payment receipts must be submitted along with the essay.

Submission Guidelines

  • Essays must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  • Word limit: 2,000 to 3,000 words (excluding footnotes).
  • Font: Times New Roman, Size 12, Line Spacing 1.5
  • Footnotes: Size 10, Single Spacing, Bluebook 21st Edition citation style
  • Plagiarism should not exceed 10%.
  • Submissions must be emailed to cclrp@nlujodhpur.ac.in with the subject line: “Essay Submission – CCLRP 2026”.

Awards and Recognition

Top entries will be awarded cash prizes and certificates:

  • First Prize: ₹4,000
  • Second Prize: ₹3,000
  • Third Prize: ₹2,000
  • E-Certificates for all participants

Winning essays may also be considered for publication on the Centre’s official platforms.

Participants may explore a wide range of contemporary issues, including but not limited to:

  • Dark Patterns in Online Shopping
  • AI and Consumer Rights
  • Greenwashing and Legal Remedies
  • Influencer Marketing and Consumer Protection
  • Cross-border E-Commerce and Jurisdictional Challenges
  • Effectiveness of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019
